Book Clubs

Squishy Minnie Bookclubs are all about sharing our love of books! Every month Squishy Minnie chooses a book for each Book Club to read. We then read the book in advance, get together and chat about the themes, characters, writing style and what we did and didn’t like about each book. Children and Young people are encouraged to critique and analyse the month’s book in a fun, relaxed and inclusive space. Sometimes, we’re even fortunate enough to have the author of the book come along to book club as well (in real life and via Skype!) .

Bookclubs do not run on public holidays or in school holidays. The book club schedule for the year can be found here.

All books purchased in store as part of the Book Clubs get a 15% discount. You are also welcome to bring a copy you may already have (or can borrow from the library!) to book club and there is no restriction around having to purchase the book from Squishy Minnie.

This year is the first year we have put a registration fee on the Book Clubs. This cost is to cover our staffing, with the idea being to still keep Book Club as affordable as possible and for it to be sustainable for us to continue long into the future. If you know someone interested in coming along who cannot afford the cost ($55 for the year) please just get in touch and we will work something out.

And just so you know, all of our book clubs are named after different types of donkeys from around the world!
